The amount of garbage on the planet increases accelerated, driven by high consumption rates of population growth and technological development. In November last year, the United Nations (UN) has issued a warning to Governments to take urgent measures in relation to waste, considered one of the main urban problems of this century. According to UNEP, the UN program for the environment, cities generate 1.3 billion tons of solid waste annually, and should reach 2.2 billion tons by 2025.
We need to raise awareness about everything and about the harmful consequences that an inadequate disposal of waste can cause to the environment. On the other hand, it is possible to see the wealth that exists in the garbage and extract the input that the planet itself receiving feedback, as a system of reverse logistics. In a recent piece for the magazine COLORS/FIEG, entitled "the garbage is all" we stopped in the understanding of the Brazilian solid waste Policy. An important source for understanding issue as comprehensive and complex was the Brazilian solid waste Policy study-concepts and general information-produced by management of the environment of the Federation of industries of Minas Gerais (Fiemg).
