Why is there so much junk?

Why is there so much junk?

The answer to this question is based on the fact that you can’t measure all of the production system in which we operate, and also by the fact that we adopt linear production practices: extracted natural resources, process, consume and discard. This happens since the early hours of the morning with the toothpaste, or we use SOAP to wash your hands. Don’t associate, for example, that a plastic cup is a lot of oil extracted the hard costs, or that the sheet of paper is the piece of a tree.

The large volume of accumulated waste on the planet exists because we don’t feel part of this chain, we are disconnected from the environment. It is he who provides the resources used to produce the goods we consume. We believe the natural resources abundant and infinite. We’ve reached the point where “throw away” does not exist from the standpoint of the planet, since there is no place outside of it. All trash has a destiny. We see the Recycle Bin as a great magical hole, where it disappears all that we don’t want any more, without analyzing the waste will go to other places, but they’re going to stay.

We need to rethink our relationship with the waste that we generate. It seems ironic if we analyze that are formatted for the Organization, from drawers, cupboards and desk, going through wallets queued in the classroom and supermarket shelves, there’s always a pattern. However, it is forgotten when we give to our waste disposal.

The end likely to trash thrown so inconsequential in the environment are the rivers and seas, whose ecosystem is threatened, given the amount of plastic in the oceans and played countless records of animals that ingested particles of this material and who have had their lives cut short.

According to the brazilian legislation, the system considers waste management landfills the appropriate destination for non-recyclable. In addition to emit greenhouse gases, from the material deposited there, these places are a large cemetery where buried waste will centuries to decompose.

We generate garbage when we decide whether he will or no more use to us; at the exact moment the ruled out incorrectly, making it impossible for other purposes are data. If we look closely at our dumpster, we see that it is composed of various types of waste, many of them could be reused for other purposes or even recycled and come back as input to the production chain.
