The revolutionary design and educator of Tife Zanol

INTERVIEW-Tife Zanol is an artist, a designer who specializes in the areas of confluence between the environment and the fashion and excelled by creativity and boldness of a work done with materials taken from the trash. Has developed a proprietary technology for the use of waste as raw material for the creation of products and made the initiative an instrument of social promotion. Is one of the founders of the Institute Recycle-T3. The acronym refers to the Office of research, creation and training for Environmental Design, non-governmental organization, a non-profit whose mission is to seek solutions to reduce waste and promote sustainable production and consumption.

Garbage's blog – You're moving to California, in the United States. What will the T3?

Tife Zanol – the T3 continues with his actions, seeking to entice people to rethink their ways of living, consume and generate waste. Several projects are already seeking the transfer of technology for the creation of ecosustentáveis products, using garbage as raw material. The work of the Institute values the ancient knowledge and is based on the pillars of Agenda 21 (UN 1992), which advocates a greater balance of issues relating to the environment, social inclusion and sustainable development. A new project is in preparation to start deploying a UPOM (production unit of other materials) in the Institute, with the aim of involving the community and the surrounding talent in solid-waste processing recyclables into raw material for sustainable products. We are looking for new employees and partners.

Garbage's blog-what made you choose another country after so many years of fighting and conquest in Brazil?

Tife Zanol – an opportunity to advance in the work we develop for over fifteen years, and that presents itself as a model of sustainable business in fair trade. Our challenge now is to articulate a project of international cooperation between Brazil, Germany and United States. The Brazil is my beloved homeland, even with all the social, economic, environmental issues, I am Brazilian love, seen our flag outside, and I'm proud to be Brazilian. I want to create a larger dialogue on the transformation of recyclable solid waste in processes and sustainable products. I have a lot to learn, this is fact, but it is very nice to be able to do what we like and believe in.

Garbage's blog-how do you use design to make people rethink their relationship with the garbage?

Tife Zanol – Showing the back of the design; Deconstructing the "product" (residue) and sharing a way to do it differently. Using creativity as a starting point, the deconstruction of paradigms where the touch, feel, experiment, dare is allowed. Looking for reencantar through the eyes, with a processed product and ready for production line, in view of all the processes of a productive chain and the life cycle of each material. In everything we design. The design has a relevant role in the life of each of us. Simply consider that everything that's around us spent one day at the hands of a designer: objects that we use for food, food packaging, our clothes, accessories, furniture, home, school, University, hospitals, etc, everything we consume. The design can and should be sustainable, and what is more interesting, is possible, just change the look.

Blog of Rubbish – what the greater impact of working with the garbage?

Tife Zanol – on one side, the biggest impact is to change the relationship with the "things" (what we consume, how we separate and as we see the garbage); of other people; How is our relationship with the other? When we talk about turning waste into raw material, we enter a field where what matters are the values that we carry in our daily lives; There is no such thing as race, colour, social class, the problem is everyone and everything is a matter of conscience about what we leave to future generations. The garbage in the context of the constructive process, and viewed under another optics, becomes economically viable, adds value to the thrown, impact culturally, involves people, points to new technologies, develop the creative side of each and allows you to gain time to find better solutions for the volume of garbage that is generated in the world today.

Blog of Garbage – this process closes the concept of the 3 R's (reduce, reuse and recycle)?

Tife Zanol – Yes. Reduce, reuse and recycle is the logic that we can incorporate into trash. Reduce, because we need to rethink what we consume and the garbage that we produce. Need to change habits and incorporate new values. Reuse is rethinking the residue before he become garbage, make sure he has a new role. The Act of reusing develops creativity, decrease our environmental impact on the planet and can generate income for communities. The Recycling is a process, for the most part, linked to industrial activity, and usually consume a lot of water and energy. When we recycle, it serves only to materials that can go back to the original state and be transformed in the same product, same in all its features. Recycling is a third step in the effort to the conscientious consumption, after reduction and reuse.

Blog of Rubbish – what can we expect of design in the 21st century?

Tife Zanol – I see that design has already absorbed a lot of information based on the principles of sustainability, reflected not only on the outside of the products, but also on technological innovation in it, which represents a scenario much more aware of the need to have less waste and more innovation. The design approach the consumer of the reflection on the processes because the goods we consume, increasingly necessary technologies that extend the useful life of the waste and to gain time to find new possibilities of transformation of materials. We need a re-enchantment, to see life in a different way, and the designer has the opportunity as a spearhead for a look sustainable, because it also allows you to work the beautiful and reconnect people. Relearning how to be simple is currently one of the biggest challenges in the consumer world in which we live.
